What is a lumper receipt?
A lumper is a worker, usually arranged through the warehouse, who loads or unloads a truck. A lumper receipt records the fee the driver paid for that service so the carrier can be reimbursed by the broker or shipper.
Brokers typically want the receipt together with the bill of lading and the proof of delivery, and many ask for approval before the driver pays. Keep the receipt with the load paperwork so the charge can be matched to the right shipment.

Lumper receipt questions
What is a lumper receipt?
A lumper receipt is the record of a fee paid for loading or unloading a truck. It shows the facility, the load, the service, the amount and how it was paid, so the carrier can ask the broker or shipper to cover it.
Who pays the lumper fee?
It depends on the agreement for the load. Often the shipper or consignee is responsible, and the carrier pays on the spot and is reimbursed afterwards. Get approval from the broker or shipper before you pay, and keep the receipt.
What should a lumper receipt include?
The facility and date, the load and BOL numbers, the carrier and driver, the service and quantity, the rate and total, how it was paid, any approval number and signatures.
Why do I need a lumper receipt?
Brokers and shippers usually ask for it before they reimburse the charge. Without a receipt that ties the fee to a specific load, it is harder to get the money back.
Where should I send the lumper receipt?
Send it to your broker or shipper with the bill of lading and proof of delivery for the same load, in the way their paperwork instructions ask.
Can I upload a photo of a paper receipt instead?
Yes. You can upload a photo or PDF of a paper receipt to the editor using the upload option on the document editor page, then add a signature or notes.
