TQL Carrier Setup: Packet, Requirements and How to Get Started

What TQL requires from a carrier

  • A valid MC number or USDOT number.
  • At least $1 million in auto liability insurance.
  • At least $100,000 in cargo insurance.
  • Reefer breakdown shown on the insurance certificate, if you haul refrigerated freight.
  • The online Carrier Contract, completed.

How to get set up with TQL

  1. Complete the carrier packet

    TQL says new carriers fill in the carrier packet at tqlcarriers.com before they request a login. The online Carrier Contract is part of that process.

  2. Request a login

    Once the packet is in, use Request a Login on tql.com. TQL gives about 48 hours for approval.

  3. Keep your insurance certificate current

    The limits above are what TQL lists today. When your policy renews, check that the new certificate still meets them.

Payment terms

These are the terms TQL publishes on its carrier FAQ page. Confirm the basis for the quick pay percentage with TQL Carrier Relations, because the page words it two ways.

  • Standard payment terms: 28 days.
  • 1-day quick pay: 5% off the gross pay.
  • 7-day quick pay: 3% off the gross pay.
  • For payment, TQL asks for its invoice or rate confirmation, the signed bill of lading, and lumper receipts or scale tickets where they apply.
  • If you use a factoring company, send the documents to the factor rather than to TQL.

What is different about TQL

Carrier setup at TQL is two steps: the packet first, then a separate login request. TQL says the packet is required before you request a login.

TQL does not send 1099 forms. Tax details are available in the Reporting tab on its website, where you can export a PDF by year. Box trucks, Sprinter vans and hotshots book through the TQL app rather than the carrier dashboard.
